The Best Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners Reviews

The Hoover Tempo WidePath has maintained a 4 star rating after more than 3,000 reviews!

From their humble beginnings as suction cleaners used for asthma and dust control in 1907, Hoover upright vacuum cleaners have become popular for many households that need a “cleaner” clean.

The Hoover upright vacuum cleaners reviewed here will provide an overview of three popular types, with an explanation of the advantages and disadvantages of each model.

We have selected one traditional upright model, an upright and canister combo, and a stick vacuum for this review to give a broad overview of the options available.

Our review covers the Tempo Widepath U5140-900, Platinum UH 30010 COM, and the Hoover Flair Stick S2220. Read on to get details on each model.

Hoover WidePath U5140-900 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners - Tempo WidePath ReviewThe Tempo WidePath U5140-900 is one of the more affordable Hoover upright vacuum cleaners with a price point under $100.

That’s only one of the things that are advantageous because it also has as many features as some competitor models at three times the price.

With this machine you get WidePath cleaning capability for a 15 inch wide cleaning path, powerful suction, an allergen filtration system, and plenty of onboard tools. It even features a headlight and a bag-replacement indicator light. It comes with a one year warranty and has rotating roller brushes, to make cleaning more effective.

There are a few minor cons to this model, such as a 24-foot cord, versus a 30-foot found on other models. It is a bagged unit, versus a bagless upright. The bag versus bagless issue depends on the consumer’s preference, but most seem to prefer bagless. In addition, the attachment hose is lacking in length to reach ceilings, but a lot of the lower priced uprights have this problem.

For the price, it is hard to complain, but it is important to keep in mind this is one of the budget Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners. It still provides good value for the money.

Hoover Platinum UH30010COM Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners - Platinum BaglessThe Platinum UH30010COM Lightweight is a more expensive model of bagged upright, but it comes with a 6 year warranty to give you longer lasting durability and maintenance-free use.

It features the patented Hoover WindTunnel technology, edge cleaning channels, high-low speed controls, lifetime LED headlight, and lifetime belt.

It only weighs 11 pounds, which is one of the best features for those that like easy portability and maneuverability.

It features an automatic height adjustment and 35 foot cord, along with a 14 inch cleaning path. It is commonly packaged with the versatile and portable canister vacuum so you can handle cleaning in high places, since there are not onboard tools.

On the cons, it is a little pricier than some bagged vacuums and it is one of the higher priced Hoover upright vacuum cleaners at a retail price around $300.

On the other hand, there are competitor models that are similarly priced but might not offer the benefits that this model does. Because it is packaged with the canister vacuum for ceiling to floor cleaning and comes with Hoover’s best warranty, you pay a little more, but you are essentially getting two separate vacuums.

Those that are spending this much money might consider bagless models, however. With this model it’s necessary to buy two types of vacuum replacement bags. That seems to be the biggest disadvantage of this model, but all things considered the Platinum UH30010COM is one of the best Hoover upright vacuum cleaners.

Hoover Flair Stick S2220

Hoover Stick Vacuum - Hoover FlairWhen you are looking for one of the most compact models of Hoover upright vacuum cleaners, the Hoover Flair Stick S2220 offers effective cleaning and a super compact size.

Weighing only 11 pounds, its futuristic broom-style design offers plenty of suction power on carpeted or hard-floor surfaces. You just need to push the button to change functions, but it is easily maneuverable, featuring a swivel floor nozzle and big rear wheels.

You will find a 20-foot power cord, which is adequate for the average room. An attractive feature for this model is the EZ Empty Dirt Cup, so there is no need for bags and it is easy to dump and put back in. The price might be the most attractive feature, however, because you can find them for around $50 or under.

The cons of the Hoover Flair Stick S2220 are that the cord is shorter than other Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaners and it is not meant to be a heavy-duty cleaning machine. It is a good solution for the average vacuuming needs and easy to pull-out and use for spot-cleaning.
